On Behalf of | Mar 19, 2022 | Child And Spousal Support

If you owe child support, you have various options when it comes to making payments. Many parents pay support through income withholding orders, but some have to find other ways to pay support, such as those who do not have a job, entrepreneurs, etc. In addition to paying child support over the phone, mailing a check or at various on-site locations around the state, you can also make child support payments online.

However, there are some key points you need to take into consideration with respect to online child support payments.

Paying child support online in California

If you owe child support, California’s Child Support Services states that you can make online child support payments to the California Disbursement Unit. Sometimes, people receive error messages while trying to submit online payments, and the state recommends contacting your credit card company to make sure the payment did not go through before trying to pay again (to avoid duplicate payments). If you have already made a duplicate payment, reach out to your caseworker.

Making child support payments without registering

You can pay child support using the state’s online platform by registering with your identification number, contact details and Social Security Number. You also have the option to pay online without registering, although you will not have a record of your payments in this system. If you do not register, you can still pay support by providing your ID number and SSN, after which you can pay with your bank account, credit card or debit card.

Regardless of how you decide to pay child support, make sure you stay current.
